Back in 1930, H.J. Lehman began his heating and electrical business in Muncie. He located on East Main St. in the heart of the downtown area. Mr. Lehman soon became a pioneer in home heating conversion from coal to natural gas. Muncie residents were very pleased to rid themselves of the daily chore of stoking their basement furnaces and cleaning the ash residue.
H.J. Lehman soon needed to expand. He purchased a welding shop on West 13th Street and began to convert the quonset hut to a heating business. He moved completely to the new location in 1950. Mr. Lehman was succeeded by sons-in-law Jim Maidlow Sr. and Andy Riebe. Lehman's, Inc. became a leader in sales and service for forced air heating and air conditioning equipment. The two men led the way in early residential and commercial central air conditioning.
Growth again required expansion, both in facilities and staff. A new general office was built in 1978. Additional warehouse and sheet metal shop facilities were added during the mid-eighties. After Jim and Andy retired, Jim Maidlow, Jr. became the owner and manager of the Muncie store.
The nineties brought new high efficiency heating and air conditioning equipment. It also has established a genuine concern for indoor air quality and timely professional service. Our new store owners, John Primmer and Tony Swearingin, along with their staff, remain dedicated to providing professional service to residents of East Central Indiana.
Technology continues to re-define our high efficiency products, advanced controls, and Indoor Air Quality. We continue to serve with a single driving force... giving our customers the best customer experience at a reasonable price.
